BAFA Division One North – Defensive Player of the Year Update
After two weeks of action, we’ve seen a lot of TD dances from defensive players. Here’s who the top 10 defensive players in the Division One North are so far!

1. Jake Shaw, Warrington Revolution, 6 PPG
The two-way star has been in fine form for the Revolution, as he comfortably leads the way of the OPOTY race also. With 8 picks total, and 4 returned for scores, Jake is running away with this award category!

2. Paul Teague, Nottingham Honey Badgers, 4 PPG
Paul has emerged as the top defender for the promotion-chasing Honey Badgers, and with 7 picks in 4 contests, he’s on pace to keep up with Jake, provided he can convert more of these takeaways into touchdowns.

T-3. Adam Gray, Warrington Revolution, 3.5 PPG
Adam is holding his own so far, as is currently tied third with 5 total interceptions to his name, returning 2 for touchdowns. We wonder if teams will play more conservatively against the Revolution to keep scores down. They’ve been destroying teams so far, so teams might try to avoid any huge scores when they face Warrington.

T-3. Ruairidh McGregor, Glasgow Killer Bees, 3.5 PPG
Ruairidh has been one of the bright spots on a solid Killer Bees defence so far this season, matching Adam’s output with his own pair of return scores. He’s a safety with a lot of range and speed, which he’s used to give his team the best chance of winning.
Here’s the rest of the top 10!
5. Grant Hill, Carnegie Flag, 3 PPG
T-6. Robert Welti, Oldham Owls, 2.5 PPG
T-6. Ben Parker, Oldham Owls, 2.5 PPG
T-6. Neil Smith, Chorley Buccaneers, 2.5 PPG
9. Caleb Armour, Midlothian Sabers, 2.3 PPG
10. George Dodd, Cheshire Cavaliers, 2 PPG
