We’re delighted to announce that the Jaguars Se7ens cup is returning in 2018 to British shores! The tournament, hosted by Jaguars UK, is a unique competition in a number of ways. It’s one of the UK’s only seven-a-side flag football tournaments, and challenges all the teams who compete regularly in the BAFA leagues and beyond to adapt their game to the different format. Most importantly though, the prize is awesome. The winners get a trip to Superbowl LIII In Atlanta! That includes flights, hotels and tickets to the game!
Last year’s tournament was won by the Massflag Allstars, who defeated the Baker Street Buttonhookers (Runners up in 2016 as well) in an epic final. The Allstars dominated the Northern heat, winning in style against the field which included a number of BAFA playoff sides. The Buttonhookers, fresh off their British championship win, defeated a strong set of opposition to repeat as winners of the Southern heat.
The Allstars won tickets to see this year’s incredible Superbowl from Minnesota! This could be you next year!
The Early Bird Tickets will be on sale on THIS THURSDAY until the 15th of February. This reduced price of £175 is on offer during this time only – after this it will be £200 per team. You’ll be able to register your team and find out all the rules HERE! Your squad size is limited to 10 players per team, so choose wisely! With regards to player eligibility, the number of EU nationals required per squad is still to be finalised, so watch this space!
The Northern and Southern heats will be taking place in Manchester and London respectively. The London tournament will take place on the 1st of September, while the Manchester event will be on the 15th of September.
The final will be played in October, the Friday before the Jaguars vs Eagles game taking place at Wembley! This date has yet to be set, but will be either the 19th of 26th of October.
Why Should You Enter?
A number of the FFW team have had the pleasure of being involved in the Jaguars Se7ens tournament since its inception. The event is extremely professional and well run. There’s plenty of game-time to keep you busy, while there’s also the opportunity to see a number of the best teams from the UK (and beyond!) taking part to win arguably the biggest prize in Flag Football today. It’s a ton of fun to take part, and we hope to see another fantastic tournament this year!
We spoke to tournament winner Corey Boulay about his experience at last year’s tournament!
Jags Se7ens Cup was an all around great tournament put on by a very classy organisation in the Jacksonville Jaguars! I have never been a part of any tournament that has had a prize of such magnitude. I mean really? The Superbowl! How much better can it get?!
The chance to go to Wembley Stadium and watch the Jaguars absolutely demolish the Baltimore Ravens put a cap on an amazing trip out in London. It was unfortunate that the Jaguars were not able to get past the Patriots in the AFC Championship game because it would have been a story book ending to watch the Jaguars play in the Super Bowl in front of us, the team that sent us to the Super Bowl!
The Jags 7 tournament in itself was amazing. The Jaguars staff put on a great tournament. Everything went very smoothly, and I hopefully will be back next year! Go Jags!
