SWC Top Offensive Players – Midseason

At the midway point in the SWC, there are some big names making big plays for their teams. Here’s how the leaderboard is shaping up!

1. JACK GILBERT, PLYMOUTH BUCCANEERS – 119 POINTS

Jack Gilbert retains the top spot in the rankings after another gameday which saw him produce for his team. The pairing of Gilbert and Sellars is thriving in this offence and are putting up a successful season together. Gilbert only holds a slender lead at the top of the table, and all the players below him in the top 5 have played less games than him. He will need to continue adding  scores to ensure his top spot is kept through to the end of the season.

2. LUKE HOSKIN, NORTHANTS PHANTOMS – 112 POINTS

Previously, the Phantoms receiving duo of Hoskin & Tarry were separated by a single point in the rankings but it is Hoskin who has stormed ahead of his partner in crime on the back of an impressive home gameday. We saw the Phantoms brush past the Titans White and the Thunderducks where Hoskin produced 5 Rec TDs, 3 QB TDs, 1 XPs and an XP interception return in what many would consider a successful day at the office. With still 8 games to go, Hoskin is in a good position to cement his place in our rankings with his chemistry with QB Jeremy Smith growing as the season progresses.

3. JAY JAY SPENCER, HEREFORD STAMPEDE – 108 POINTS

Carrying on his outstanding run of form in the first quarter of the season is Jay Jay Spencer, who hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down. The Stampede are looking like the favourites to take the SWC South title if they are able to navigate their way past their remaining tests.. Similarly to Jack Gilbert, Spencer has accounted for 50% of his teams points this season, and with 8 games left to go, I would expect Jay Jay Spencer to battle until the very end for the SWC’s best offensive player award.

4. KEIRAN EATON, COVENTRY COUGARS – 107 POINTS

A new entry into the Top 5 is Keiran Eaton of the Coventry Cougars. The Cougars are having a mixed season but came back to form in their last game day, picking up two much needed wins with thanks to Eaton who decimated his opposition to the stat line of 8 TDs, 1 XP, 2 INTs & 1 Pick 6. Kieran did all this in just two games with two different QBs. Keiran is proving why he was one of the players to watch heading into the 2017 season.

5. CALLUM DAVIDSON, BIRMINGHAM LIONS – 95 POINTS

Another new entry into the Top 5 this week is Callum Davidson who was one of the best performers from the Birmingham gameday this past week. He picked up 2 Hat-Tricks on the way to a 7 Touchdown day, with the highlight being an incredible catch in a tough match-up against the stingy Titans Blue defence. Callum has only made 6 appearances for the Birmingham Lions and still has 9 games to play, so look for Davidson to add to his total as he emerges as Tristan Varney’s new favourite target.

Here’s how to table looks after the mid-point of action in the SWC!
